2025 GWM Haval Jolion Pro Hybrid SUV: price, specs & release date

Haval is a big name in China and Australia, and now the SUV maker is bringing a midsize hybrid SUV to the UK.

The Haval Jolion Pro will go on sale in February 2025. It’ll be sold in GWM showrooms alongside the Ora range of cars – Ora and Haval are two of GWM’s five brands.

Immediately, the attention-grabber is the price. The Jolion Pro starts from £23,995, which is much less than the Nissan Qashqai E-Power (£34,500), Citroen C5 Aircross hybrid (£28,000) or Jeep Compass e-Hybrid (£36,600). Even the MG HS – perhaps the Jolion Pro’s closest rival – is £1,000 more expensive and doesn’t come with a hybrid engine.

The entry-level Premium trim includes 17-inch alloy wheels, a digital dial cluster and keyless entry, as well as a touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Above that are Lux and Ultra trims, the latter costing £29,995. Lux includes heated leather-effect seats; Ultra also adds a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, cooled front seats, bigger wheels and a head-up display.

Haval Jolion Pro interior

At a whisker under 4.5 metres long, the Haval Jolion Pro is the same sort of size as the Nissan Qashqai, Audi Q3 and Alfa Romeo Tonale. As such, it should be the right size for family use, although we’re yet to find out how practical it actually is – especially as sources on Google quote alarmingly low boot space figures of 291-390 litres.

The hybrid powertrain produces 189hp, with 149hp coming from the motor. This suggests that the motor powers the wheels in most situations, with the petrol engine as back up – especially as Haval promises that the Jolion Pro feels like an electric car to drive. A combined driving range of up to 620 miles is quoted.

Safety is a strong point of the Jolion Pro, with a five-star ANCAP safety rating. This is broadly similar to the Euro NCAP safety rating, and Haval tells us that the Jolion Pro includes over 100 active and passive safety features as standard. As well as the usual lane-keep assistance and auto emergency braking, there’s secondary collision mitigation, rear cross-traffic avoidance and a driver drowsiness monitor.

A 360-degree parking camera is also fitted to the top-spec Ultra model, which can park itself too.

The Haval Jolion Pro comes with a five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty. Four paint colours are available – white, grey, black or blue.
