The Audi Q5 is vitally important to the company – it’s Audi’s best-selling model globally. New for 2025, the Q5 gains a whopping touchscreen and upgraded mild-hybrid-ness for better fuel economy.
This is the brand-new Audi Q5. It looks fairly similar to the outgoing version, and is broadly the same size as well – understandable given how popular the Q5 has been so far. Although, to the uninitiated, this could be any Audi SUV between Q3 and Q6.
There’s a wide grille with a new mesh design and an updated Audi badge, plus redesigned air vents and slim, high-tech LED headlights. Around the back, there are some similarly clever tail-lights – featuring configurable designs and a full-width light bar – plus a pair of proper exhausts.
2025 Audi Q5 prices and release date
The new Q5 is available to order from Audi now, with first customer deliveries scheduled for April 2025 – in time for the new '25' registration plate.
In line with Audi's other recent models, the new Q5 is available in Sport, S Line and Edition 1 trim levels. Sport kicks things off with a long equipment list that includes 19-inch alloy wheels, heated leather sports seats, LED headlights with auto high-beam assist, three-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control and parking assistance. Prices start from £49,950 with a petrol engine or £51,600 with a diesel engine.
Jumping up to S Line trim costs a reasonable £2,600, and for that you get 20-inch wheels, privacy glass, the S Line body kit, sports suspension and dark interior trim.
Top-spec Edition 1 costs £56,750 (+ another £1,650 if you want the diesel engine), and comes with even larger wheels, a black styling pack, Matrix LED headlights, a touchscreen for the front passenger and extra driver assistance features. Then there's the faster SQ5 Edition 1, from £74,400, with an even stronger lineup of standard kit.
Interior
Inside, the Q5’s dashboard gets the same ‘Digital Stage’ as the brand’s other recent releases. That means a curved panel incorporating an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch touchscreen – and the extra touchscreen for the passenger if you tick that particular option box.
Software updates happen over the air, and you can download apps like YouTube and Spotify directly onto the infotainment screen. Phone mirroring is there but it seems Audi would rather you use its native system rather than resorting to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
There’s wraparound ambient lighting and high-quality materials, many of which are sustainable. Audi’s Kaskade textile is partly made of wool; Dinamica suede-like fabric made from 50% recycled polyester is available.
Engines
The Q5 retains engine power, and there are petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid options. You’ll want the Audi Q6 if you want a fully electric midsize Audi SUV.
The engine range starts with a 204hp 2.0-litre TFSI petrol with mild-hybrid assistance, which not only saves fuel but adds 25hp of power in short bursts, too. A diesel engine with the same power output can be ordered. There’s also a high-power SQ5 with a 367hp 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine. All come with quattro four-wheel drive as standard.
Buyers keen for plug-in hybrid Q5s will have to wait until mid-2025, or pick a used example of the outgoing Q5. Two plug-in versions will be offered, both with a 25.9kWh battery that should offer over 50 miles of range.
