Say hello to the new Nissan Qashqai SUV and its heavily redesigned front end.
The new Qashqai certainly stands out. There’s a nearly full-width grille that crashes into the reshaped headlights, which now sit in a different cluster to the daytime running lights. It looks a little bit like the Hyundai Tucson, which is probably deliberate given how popular the Tucson has been.
In fact, the Qashqai has plenty of boldly styled rivals – the Kia Sportage, Renault Austral and new Peugeot 3008 to name just three. Read our guide to the best family SUVs to see more of the Nissan Qashqai’s rivals.
Elsewhere, there’s more body coloured exterior trim than before, and tweaked brakelights with clear lenses and redesigned LED elements. There are a selection of new alloy wheels, measuring between 18 and 20 inches, and three new paint colours – Pearl White, Pearl Black and Deep Ocean teal.
2024 Nissan Qashqai prices and specs
The new Qashqai starts from £30,135. Base-spec Visia trim has been dropped, with Acenta Premium now starting the range. It means that every Qashqai now offers a 12.3-inch touchscreen with a reversing camera, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus dual-zone climate control.
N-Connecta increases the size of the wheels to 18 inches, has built-in Google software and extra tech like a wireless charger and customisable ambient lighting. Yours from £32,305. Above that is a new N-Design trim level with two-tone paint, body-coloured lower bumpers and 20-inch alloy wheels.
At £34,845, N-Design costs the same as Tekna, which sits on 19-inch wheels but adds extra equipment like heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display and an automatic tailgate. Top-spec Tekna+ piles in quilted leather seats – with massagers for the front seats – and a Bose sound system. But pricing is punchy at £38,875. Additionally, the ePower hybrid engine will cost extra across the range.
Interior
Inside, the Qashqai benefits from a new infotainment system, extra tech and new materials for high-spec models. It’s also the first European Nissan model to feature built-in Google software, with Google Maps and personalised points of interest if you sign in to your Google account. The integration of the Google Play store means you can download a range of apps to your car’s touchscreen.
Amazon Alexa voice integration is also available in the Qashqai, while the car’s accompanying phone app lets you remotely lock or unlock the car. It can even immobilise the vehicle if the system thinks the car has been stolen.
Nissan’s Around View Monitor – a 360-degree parking camera with top-down view – has been upgraded with a new 3D car view that aims to prevent you hitting out-of-sight objects. Other new features include an ‘invisible hood view’, which uses the cameras to give an image of where the wheels are for tight manoeuvres, and a ‘parking spot location memory’ function, which allows you to save frequently used parking spaces. The system will then help you to park in the space if required.
Nissan has also added a new patterned material on the centre console – in a nod to Japanese craftsmanship – like it has in the bigger Nissan Ariya.
The new Qashqai is now in production at Nissan's UK plant and is available to order. Deliveries are due to start later in the summer.
