What is a crossover?
A crossover, or crossover SUV, is a type of car with a raised ride height that sits you up high, giving you a better view over other traffic and, for some drivers, an increased feeling of security. Traditionally, a crossover is based on a normal car platform, for example a Ford Puma is a crossover that's based on a Ford Fiesta's platform. This is different to the traditional definition of an SUV, which uses 'body-on-frame' construction – but considering there are very few body-on-frame SUVs left on sale, 'crossover' and 'SUV' are now used interchangeably… unless you're in a pub with some very serious car nerds.
