What is traffic sign recognition?
Traffic sign recognition is an on-board safety system that uses a front-mounted camera to 'read' traffic signs on the road. These are then displayed on the dashboard as a reminder for the driver. It's not just speed limit signs – traffic sign recognition systems generally pick up on other signs, like roundabout and sharp bend signs too. Some cars combine traffic sign recognition with 'intelligent speed assist', which can automatically adjust your speed to the posted limit in the area. For example, if you drive from a 40mph zone into a 30mph one, the car will slow down by itself without any input from you.
