What is an airbag?

An airbag is a fabric bag that uses an explosive charge to inflate incredibly quickly in the event of a car crash. It cushions the driver or passengers from hitting their head or other body parts on the hard parts of the car's interior. Every modern car must have an airbag fitted to the steering wheel, but you'll also find them above the glovebox on the passenger's dashboard, and often in the sides of the cabin and in passengers' knee area.
