What is DSC (dynamic stability control)?

DSC (dynamic stability control) is an electronic system that helps prevent your car from skidding out while cornering. It's another name for Electronic Stability Control used by brands like BMW, Land Rover and Mazda. DSC may step in if, for example, your wheels hit a sudden slippery patch or if you've misjudged your speed for a corner. It uses sensors to measure the speed of your car's wheels, steering angle and body movements. From this data, the system can detect in a split second whether understeer or oversteer is happening, and individually brake each wheel to correct the problem and bring you back into line.
