Skoda hatchback FAQs

Yes, Skoda makes four hatchback models. The smallest is the Skoda Citigo, which shares parts and engines with the Volkswagen Up and SEAT Mii.

Then there's the Skoda Fabia, which is mechanically similar to the Volkswagen Polo and SEAT Ibiza – followed by the Skoda Scala, which is roughly the same size as a Volkswagen Golf.

At the top of the range is the Skoda Octavia. This looks more like a saloon with a boot that extends beyond the passenger compartment, but actually has a large hatchback bootlid, giving you excellent access to the cargo area.

Skoda probably enjoys the best reputation for reliability among any of the Volkswagen Group brands. As a result, you can expect many years of trouble-free service from your Skoda hatchback as long as you stay on top of scheduled maintenance.

For greater peace of mind, consider adding an extended warranty to your Skoda hatch when you buy it. This starts once the manufacturer's coverage ends and will insulate you from the cost of any unexpected mechanical or electrical failures.
