After a brief hiatus, MG is back on British roads. And no, this isn't the MG your grandfather knew.
The revived brand uses platforms, parts and technology from SAIC – one of China's largest automakers. As a result, modern MGs are easily the fastest and smartest cars ever to wear the MG badge.
This guide talks you through all the MG models you'll see on British roads. We'll look at widely available used cars along with the brand's latest models.

MG ZS
The MG ZS has been on sale since 2017, which means you'll find plenty for sale on the used market. Prices are impressively low, too, placing the ZS among the most affordable cars in its class. And the ZS doesn't demand a lot of compromise, either, for that budget-friendly price tag. It has enough cabin space for a small family, standard equipment is generous, and the driving experience is safe and stable. There's even an affordable EV version that'll save you a bundle on running costs if you can charge from home.

2025 MG ZS EV replacement
While the previous ZS majored on affordability, it lacked a little desirability. Images of the 2025 MG ZS EV replacement have now appeared and, clearly, MG's tried to address this with much sharper styling and, if more recent models are anything to go by, a total overhaul for the cabin styling and material quality. We're also anticipating full-hybrid and petrol versions of this car further down the line.
MG HS
For now, MG's SUV lineup in the UK includes just two models – the smaller ZS and this, the HS. It's still a five-seat SUV but it's longer and wider than the ZS, which means substantially more head and legroom for rear passengers, plus a much larger boot. If you're carrying kids in car seats and bulky pushchairs – or your relatives are all very tall – the HS's extra space makes the job a little easier. Ride comfort and material quality are better than you might expect for a car this affordable, and there's the option of a punchy plug-in hybrid model, which makes a great choice if you have a home or office charger.

2024 MG HS
The 2024 MG HS replacement is actually due on sale before the new ZS and, like that car, it aims to dial up the styling and desirability noticeably. You'll spot the far more sculpted bodywork and even more premium details in the cabin. MG's also gone the same route as Mercedes and BMW by blending the central infotainment screen and driver's dials into one singular sweeping unit on top of the dashboard.

MG3
The MG3 is the brand's rival to affordable small hatchbacks like the Suzuki Swift and Dacia Sandero. This model first went on sale back in 2011 but a series of substantial updates kept it on sale through until its 2024 replacement. It's not the most modern car in the brand's lineup, so you'll spot some of the cheaper cabin plastics and design features. These drawbacks are reflected in very low prices on the used market, however, so you're getting quite a lot of car for your money. The handling's not too bad, either.

2024 MG3
Of all MG's cars, the MG3 hatchback was most in need of a redesign and that's exactly what the 2024 MG3 has achieved. The new, sharp-suited body shares styling cues with the MG HS above and the cabin features many of the new fixtures and fittings from the MG4 EV. Under the bonnet, you'll find an automatic-only full-hybrid setup with an impressive 192hp. That means 0-62mph in a nippy eight seconds if you floor it, and up to 64mpg if you don't.

MG4
The MG4 is one of the brand's newest models, based on a cutting-edge EV platform. Size-wise, it has a similar footprint to the Volkswagen Golf but looks a little taller in person because the battery pack lifts the floor height up. Cabin space is impressive – better than the fuel-powered Golf thanks to the more effective packaging pure EVs can achieve. Performance, handling and ride quality are all among the most impressive we've seen from MG's current lineup, and all versions can return more than 200 miles from a full charge. The MG4 also shows off the company's latest cabin styling direction, feeling much more modern than its predecessors.

MG5
While the younger, hotter MG4 gets all the attention, the MG5 EV makes for a sensational used car. This compact estate car doesn't have the most up-to-date styling inside or out but, like the rest of the MG lineup, it's one of the most affordable models in its class and comes with a list of standard equipment as long as your arm. Most models return a claimed range above 200 miles and prices on the used market regularly undercut similarly specced fuel-powered cars.

MG Cyberster
Okay, the name is a bit clunky and a list price north of £50,000 means the Cyberster isn't as cheap and cheerful as other MGs. However, this two-seater EV sports car is meant to be a 'halo' model for the brand – as you'll spot from its swoopy styling, luxurious cabin and dramatic butterfly-hinged doors. The fastest version will bait supercars from 0-62mph in just 3.2 seconds and all models will manage a claimed 270 miles on a full charge.

MG4 XPower
The MG4 XPower revives the company's high-performance brand in electrifying style. It starts out as a normal MG4 battery-powered hatchback with all the same benefits – decent practicality, good build quality, lots of equipment – and then adds a frankly stupid amount of power. This sensible five-seater has 429hp and four-wheel drive thanks to a motor on each axle, and will catapult from 0-62mph in just 3.8 seconds.
