Audi A5 Coupe FAQs

Yes, the Audi A5 Coupe is certainly a good premium four-seat coupe. It has a bigger boot and more rear-seats space than most of its rivals such as the BMW 4 Series and Mercedes C-Class Coupe. It does only have two rear seats though, and headroom in the back isn't ideal for tall adults. Up front it feels high-tech and comfy, and it feels reasonably sporty to drive – though the BMW is even better in this regard.

The fastest-accelerating petrol Audi A5 Coupe (the 45 TFSI quattro) packs a 265hp petrol engine and gets from 0-62mph in 5.5 seconds. The slowest version is the 35 TFSI with an automatic gearbox which still turns in a respectable time of 8.9 seconds. The 40 TFSI engine will do 0-62mph in 7.1 seconds, or 6.7 if you get a four-wheel-drive quattro version.

On the diesel side of things the entry-level 35 TDI will get from 0-62mph in 8.2 seconds, the 40 TDI in 7.4 seconds or 6.9 seconds with four-wheel-drive fitted. The 50 TDI quattro is the overall fastest version of the A5 Coupe and will get from 0-62mph in just 5.2 seconds.

If you want to push the boat out then there's the S5 Coupe, which takes just 4.7 seconds for the 0-62mph sprint, then the range-topping RS5 Coupe will take just 3.9 seconds.

The A5 Coupe is more of a luxury four-seat coupe than an out-and-out sports car. It's bigger than most sports cars, has more seats than most sports cars and isn't designed for tackling race tracks. It'll still make you feel good about yourself though…
