After a few years of fairly mediocre models, Renault is back with a bang.
The French powerhouse has looked backwards for inspiration, both in its new badge and its current model range. It’s revived dormant names like Scenic and 5 for two of its new electric cars, with both new cars scoring high for desirability and tech.
But Renault isn’t putting all its oeufs in the electric basket. Plenty of models get hybrid powertrains instead, which might suit you better if you can’t charge at home – or don’t want to. We’ve listed all of Renault’s current models, as well as some recent models that you might find as a used car at Motorpoint.
Hatchbacks
Renault Twingo
On sale from: 2014-2018
A funky but overlooked city car that shares its rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout with the Smart ForTwo and ForFour. We’re happy to report that the Twingo is set to come back as a sub-£20,000 EV in 2026.

Renault Clio
On sale from: 2019-present
A Ford Fiesta rival that’s a best-seller on the continent. The latest Clio couples smart looks with a user-friendly interior, plus the option of petrol or hybrid engines. Pick the hybrid if you can afford it.

Renault Megane
On sale from: 2016-2022
Renault’s long-lived family hatchback has drastically changed with each iteration, and the last one gets striking LED lamps and the option of a massive portrait infotainment touchscreen. Hatchback and estate models are available, most with petrol or diesel engines but latterly with a plug-in hybrid engine. Fiery Megane RS is one of the fastest, most high-tech hot hatches.

SUVs
Renault Captur
On sale from: 2020-present
Using the same oily parts as the Clio but with a slightly bigger body, the Captur is a Nissan Juke-rivalling small SUV that offers plenty of interior space and the same crafted interior as the Clio. Diesel, hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines are available, but most are petrol. A host of updates in 2024 has helped to keep the Captur looking fresh.

Renault Symbioz
On sale from: 2024-present
Bigger than the Captur, marginally smaller than the Austral, the Symbioz might be the Goldilocks’ porridge of Renault’s family cars. But there’s a lot to appreciate with the Symbioz – it has a versatile sliding rear bench, the infotainment system uses built-in Google software for all the connectivity we’re used to, and it comes with a clever hybrid engine.
Renault Arkana
On sale from: 2021-present
Renault’s first bespoke hybrid SUV brought the coupe styling from the BMW X6 to the mainstream. The Arkana doesn’t need plugging in but aims to offer diesel-beating fuel efficiency.

Renault Austral
On sale from: 2023-present
The Austral – or 'AustralE' according to the badge on the back – is essentially a replacement to the Kadjar below. It’s Renault’s ‘normal’ midsize SUV, if you like, with a macho but fairly conservative SUV style. The ‘full’ hybrid powertrain gives headline stats of 60mpg and a total driving range of over 600 miles, despite not needing to be plugged in.

Renault Rafale
On sale from: 2024-present
Basically a sleeker version of the Austral, the Rafale is another hybrid-only coupe-SUV that’s bigger and more practical than the Arkana – but more expensive too. Its stats and connectivity tech make the Arkana feel old.
Renault Kadjar
On sale from: 2013-2022
The Renault Kadjar was a big success for the French brand. Indirectly taking over from the Laguna as Renault’s core family car, the Kadjar shared a lot of parts with the contemporary Nissan Qashqai – but the Renault was a bit more practical and a bit more modern inside. Used Kadjars are widely available and they’re some of the best-value SUVs around.

Renault Koleos
On sale from: 2017-2020
A bigger, more luxurious SUV than the Kadjar, but still only had five seats and every Koleos came with a diesel engine. The related Nissan X-Trail was more popular because it was cheaper and came with the option of seven seats.

MPVs
Renault Scenic
On sale from: 2016-2019
When MPVs were losing their appeal, Renault tried to inject some flair into the Scenic and seven-seat Grand Scenic, fitting 20-inch alloy wheels as standard. Ultimately it didn’t work, with the Scenic being shuffled off after only three years on sale. And, while it’s commonplace now, the Scenic was notable for its mild-hybrid diesel engine option – which was said to manage 80mpg.

Renault Trafic Passenger
On sale from: 2020-present
It’s a van with windows but, if you need the maximum amount of space, the Trafic Passenger is able to fit an entire galaxy’s worth of clutter inside. And, because it’s based on a van, you can expect it to be durable and robust.
Electric
Renault Zoe
On sale from: 2020-2024
The Zoe is an alt-fuel icon. The original car – which looks almost identical to the later one in our pic – helped to pave the way for the electric revolution that’s currently taking place on our streets. Refreshed Zoe models don’t trip you up with an ongoing battery lease, and can manage over 200 miles between charges. That’s still better than many small EVs.

Renault 5 E-Tech
On sale from: 2025
One of the most hotly anticipated new EVs is designed like a 1970s econobox. But just look at the new R5, with its classic lines brought right up to date. There’s nothing retro about its interior, which boasts Renault’s latest connectivity and market-leading Google software. Oh, and an optional wicker baguette holder.

Renault Megane E-Tech
On sale from: 2022-present
The Renault Megane got really good when it gained electric power and a slightly crossover-y shape. Mind you, it was also the first Renault to get the new OpenR infotainment system that’s worlds better than past attempts. The 60kWh battery enables up to 285 miles of range, and the punchy 204hp electric motor enables a 7.5-second 0-62mph sprint.
Renault Scenic E-Tech
On sale from: 2023-present
The Scenic might’ve been fairly good before, but now it’s really good. Just took a whole different body style and a whole different powertrain. Now fully electric, the Scenic comes with a 87kWh battery and a phenomenal 379-mile range – which looks pretty accurate in our time with the car.
